Sonae MC’s objective is to concentrate the shipment of fresh products from the stores in the south of the country in the same place, picking up fresh products at dawn and delivering orders to stores within 24 hours.

The new building is equipped with innovative cooling and insulation systems that are more energy efficient and more environmentally friendly. The joint delivery of fresh products makes it possible to make 20 percent less deliveries to stores, a reduction of 1,400,000 kilometers traveled per year and the equivalent of saving 1,100 tonnes of CO2 per year. With 6,900 panels, a power of 3MWp and an annual production of 4GWh, Sonae MC, through Elergone Energia, ensures 30 percent of the power of the photovoltaic plant in Azambuja. With an area of 20,000 m2, this is one of the largest roof-top self-consumption plants in the Iberian Peninsula and annually avoids the production of over 1,000 tonnes of CO2.
