Douro Interior Highway

There are about 240 kilometers of road to serve the approximately 330 thousand inhabitants of the municipalities of Alijó, Murça, Mirandela, Macedo de Cavaleiros, Bragança, Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Alfândega da Fé, Vila Flor, Carrazeda de Ansiães, Torre de Moncorvo , Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Meda, Trancoso and Celorico da Beira.

The connection is made with five sections of the IP2 and three of the IC5, between gigantic viaducts that tear through the hills of the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes, connecting the south of Bragança to the north of the district of Guarda. When fully completed – between late 2011 and early 2012 – it will represent several hours less on the region’s winding and dangerous roads.
